Mahay Andrianaivoson (b. 2002 in Mahajanga, Madagascar) comes from a Malagasy and Creole background. She launched her artistic career in 2023 with her first exhibition “Manaranake” in Saint-Pierre, Reunion Island. Her paintings, which capture the Indian Ocean’s African islands’ youth, draw inspiration from the decolonial and liberation movement, with feminism as a major theme. Rooted in the fight against oppressive systems, she depicts the collective conscience formed by Afro-diasporic cultures in Eurocentric spaces.
